'As one makes one's bed, so one finds it"
15th century French proverb
a more recent translation:
'the way you make your bed is the way you lay in it'
It is a strange paradox The world in which
I sleep and dream
The bed I lay down on
Must accommodate
My hearts desires:
The
Romantic
Earthy
And...
Sensual
Beautiful
Bookish
& Bare Bones
Room enough for coffee
Served in Bed
All belong to my inner sanctuary,
which brings the color I need to reality.
Fin
Ballet of Bedmaking: 'Comme on faict son lict, on le treuve'
It is a strange paradox
the world in which
I sleep and dream
The bed I lay down on
must accommodate
my hearts desires:
the romantic, earthy, & sensual ;
beautiful, bookish, & bare bones,
room enough for coffee
served in bed.
All belong to my inner sanctuary,
which brings the color I need to reality.

ReplyDeleteAmazing pictures Joanny, and my favorites became nr 2 and five. She looks like an angel, either she is climbing in to the bed or heaven:)
ReplyDeleteThe bed fills the world, at least parts of it:)
Wishing you a nice weekend Joanny.
Warm hugs,

So playful and sensual. And the photography is so wildly creative. Love this. (I keep repeating myself here.)
ReplyDeleteThank you every one for such sweet comments, I do appreciate them all. Wishing you all a wonderful week end.
ReplyDeleteBerit,
you are correct in your assessment, pictures say a thousand words. The pictures with climbing into the stacked mattress, and the laying down on - is a metaphor for the " you made your bed now lie in it" and for when we sleep and dream where do we go? is it a bad dream or a good dream is it heaven or hell, is life stacked against us or are we protected-- What we dream is all of our choosing; for they alone are our inner most thoughts: hopes , dreams & desires, so dare to dream lofty dreams of peace, hope and compassion, & light-heart playfulness as to not take ourselves too seriously.

ReplyDeleteMy dearest Joany,
ReplyDeleteCompliments on very touching and beautiful post! The bed and room is also a sanctuary for me, with big fuffy pillows (almost vittorian style) a place to put all of my dreams to rest and come true...Write me, let me know how....
Love,
Kirsten
OH you artist of literatue images soul... how can I comment here...if all I feel I can say > oh my oh my oh my... brilliant Joanny!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful. Never seen an exquisite piece on the bed. Of course ther ehave been many pieces on the action that happens on the bed but the bed itself, first time.
ReplyDeleteThe bed can be so many things at different times. It is definitely a multi-speciality furniture. All said an done, I just cannot have food of any kind on my bed -- not even when I'm sick!
Joy always,
Susan
wonderful and very creative - well done, again
ReplyDeleteGorgeous and fab...
ReplyDeleteThanks:)
Oh Joanny,
ReplyDeleteThis was so beautiful and brought home memories
as I have heard that saying before.
My Mama use to say,
"you made your bed now sleep in it". That was when I said I was sorry I married him.
Later she saw I left and opened the door.
The comment you wrote about the Lowes Theater
is almost the way I remember it. There was a balcony with beautiful lace iron work and spiral
grand stairs, with statues and the ceiling was blue with chandiliers and stars. The walls were marble with much carving. I get sick thinking how they demolished these grand palaces. Strange
we both were with our Mothers watching an era be destroyed.
yvonne
Ahhhh, how awesome-cool. Hope that coffee doesn't spill on the bed, or the lights short out and shock that couple! :)
ReplyDeleteCoffee served in bed does sound delightful!
Thanks for sharing all this whimsy.
And THANKS for putting your website link back in your comment over in Fusnterland, makes it so quick and easy to zip over here.
xoxo
